Well for me it gona be hard to answer, since i love BARISAN NATIONAL.. Terengganu records tremendous progress
THE Terengganu government's financial position last year registered a
surplus of RM262.79 million, according to the Auditor-General's Report
2011.
"With the surpluses, the accumulated deficit balance of Consolidated Revenue Account (CRA) has decreased to RM233.49 million."
Terengganu completed 361 projects out of 480 planned projects, with 94 still in progress and the remainder yet to start.
The performance of the Housing Aid Programme (HAP) was deemed excellent, with 97.7 per cent completed.
HAP is carried out by the state government to improve the quality of life for the poor by providing safe accommodation equipped with basic facilities.
"This programme consists of three categories, namely building new houses, refurbishment of houses and roof replacement," the report stated.
Terengganu also improved on management of state government-linked companies, with Syarikat Percetakan Yayasan Islam Terengganu Sdn Bhd (SPYIT) gaining RM2.62 million in 2010.
SPYIT was incorporated as a private limited company and taken over by Terengganu Incorporated Sdn Bhd (TISB), a wholly-owned company of the Menteri Besar Incorporated.
However, Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang recommended that SPYIT diversify from its business of printing, while improving promotional activities and enhancing the management of final printed products and raw materials.
"The audit on the management of activities and corporate governance found that they were satisfactory except for poor storage of final printed products and raw materials."
On the tourism sector, Terengganu achieved its target of attracting tourists in line with upgrades in public facilities to encourage arrivals into the state.
According to the report, the state government had built facilities such as pedestrian pathways, hybrid solar site and the construction of centralised sewerage system to preserve the ecosystem of Redang and Perhentian islands.
"To enhance the tourism sector, the state government had allocated RM41.7 million and RM29.18 million in four years (2008-2011) for its development and promotion," the report stated.

Terengganu to push for bullet train network

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu government hopes to lobby its Federal counterpart to review the former’s proposal for a bullet train network in the Eastern Corridor Economic Region (ECER) masterplan.
State Infrastructure, Public Amenities and Communications Committee chairman Datuk Wan Hisham Wan Salleh said the state was disappointed upon learning that the proposal was overlooked when the ECER masterplan was unveiled.
“Hopefully, the proposal will be reviewed to complement the development plan,” he said after taking nine orphans aged between three and nine on a shopping spree at the newly-opened Giant Hypermarket here recently.
Wan Hisham said the bullet train proposal was to link Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur.
Under the proposal, the train was to link Kuala Terengganu, Dungun, Kerteh, Kemaman and several towns in Pahang before reaching KL Sentral.
Such link can halve the travel time from Kuala Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur, which currently takes seven to eight hours by trunk roads.
The train can travel at between 200 and 320 km/h, depending on the track and train specifications.
Wan Hisham said the state had identified the areas the track would pass through if the project was approved.
